Indexability
Indexability checks whether anything in the page or its response stops search engines from indexing or quoting it, such as a noindex or nosnippet directive, an error status or a chain of redirects. It also checks that the page declares a consistent preferred address and language versions.

Reading the result
What good looks like, and what a problem looks like.
Good
The page loads directly, carries no blocking directive and declares itself as its preferred address.
Not measured
When this cannot be checked, the result says so and leaves it out of the score. Unknown is not zero.
Typical problems
- A noindex directive tells search engines to leave the page out.
- The page declares another address as its preferred version.
- The page is reached through several redirects.
What it cannot prove
- A clean result means nothing on the page blocks indexing. Only the search engine's own tools show whether the page is in its index.
